Laser Welding is a superior technology for welding defects in turbine blades.
Why?
Laser Welders offer precise control with little heat input.
Heat is not your friend when welding tool steels. We know that heat drives grain growth, and when grain size grows, it becomes weaker. Our lasers introduce such little heat into the workpiece that a bare hand can be laid on the piece when finished welding and the color never changes. Plus, that welded part can be machined immediately.
Also
Turbine blades are complex geometries, which can be difficult to reach with traditional weld methods, such as TIG. Our laser welders offer precision and flexibility that others don’t. With an ALPHA: if you can see it, you can weld it.
Our lasers have the ability to weld dissimilar metals and provide a repeatable process with repeatable results.
